QT15: Combinatorial Testing - Great Coverage at Low Cost - Rick Kuhn, NIST PDF Print E-mail
Combinatorial testing is a developing method that applies to areas as diverse as testing software, optimizing manufacturing processes, or even finding the best combination of conditions to grow crops. It can guide testers to get better error detection at lower cost. We will explain the basis of combinatorial testing with illustrations (as in, why didn't I think of that before?!), in addition to presenting new algorithms and cost-effective tools. We conclude with empirical results on error detection effectiveness, and an example of using combinatorial testing as a guide to select tests for source code analyzers.
